The Barcelona ConTech Hub was born in January 2024 with a clear objective: to promote technological innovation in the construction sector through startups and consolidate itself as a benchmark both in Spain and internationally.

In a sector that advances and evolves thanks to technological innovation, the ConTech (CONstruction TECHnology) ecosystem lacked a space that brought together and fostered collaboration between startups, corporations, and key entities.

The construction sector represents nearly 12% of global GDP and, although historically one of the least innovative, is currently facing an unprecedented transformation. The shortage of skilled labor, lack of productivity and the growing demand for sustainable solutions that reduce or eliminate environmental impact have made the development of the ConTech vertical a strategic priority for the industry.

Driven by a group of relevant professionals from the entrepreneurship sector together with the Institut de Tecnologia de la Construcció de Catalunya (ITeC), a national and international reference in construction technologies since 1978, the Hub was created to be the epicenter of innovation in the sector. Its mission is to act as a meeting point and catalyst for new opportunities, fostering synergies that enhance technological development, innovation, entrepreneurship and competitiveness between companies and organizations in the sector.

We are very proud that the Barcelona ConTech Hub has become a reference in innovation in the construction sector, managing in a short time to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem that brings together all the key stakeholders (startups, corporations, companies, organizations and institutions). This growing community works together to address the major challenges of the sector and accelerate the adoption of technologically innovative solutions.
