The company INTERNATIONAL PAINT LTD (AKZONOBEL) has obtained the ETA 25/0706 for its Chartek 2218 intumescent paint for fire protection of steel structural elements.
Chartek 2218 is a two-component epoxy intumescent paint, which is used as a reactive coating system for fire protection of beams and structural steel pillars in order to achieve the fire resistance classification according to EN 13501-2, in the design temperature range of 300 ‘C to 750 ‘C.
The evaluation has been carried out according to EAD 350402-00-1106; the fire resistance of the steel structural elements, the reaction to the paint fire (including the primer and topcoats indicated in the ETA), the adherence of the reactive system and the durability of the coating system for outdoor exposure conditions (type X), both for epoxy paint without finish layer and with the finishing layers indicated in the ETA, has been evaluated.
