The company SAINT-GOBAIN ISOVER G+H AG has obtained the ETA 25/0161 for its ULTIMATE PROTECT VENT SECTION Alu2 system, designed for passive fire protection of circular steel ventilation ducts.

This system consists of fire-protective insulation circular sections made of mineral wool impregnated with a synthetic binder, externally faced with black reinforced aluminium foil. It is available in various diameters to fit the ducts and comes in two thicknesses (50 mm and 80 mm), depending on the fire resistance requirements.

The assessed performance include a reaction to fire classification of A2L-s1,d0 or A2-s1,d0, depending on diameter, and fire resistance up to EI 60 with 80 mm insulation. It also features a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/(m·K) at 40 °C and is suitable for indoor environmental conditions of type Z2.

The assessment was carried out according to the European Assessment Document EAD 350142-00-1106 Fire protective board, slab and mat products and kits.

The system is applied to galvanized steel circular ducts in buildings, both in horizontal and vertical positions, and is suitable for new construction or refurbishment.
