STEEL FOR BRICKS GZ SL has obtained ETA 26/0112 for its Geobalcony product, designed for the structural connection of balconies and internal floor slabs with a thermal break.

Geobalcony is a structural connector that allows reinforced concrete elements, such as a floor slab and a balcony, to be connected while minimizing heat transfer through the connection point. The product incorporates stainless steel plates and steel reinforcing bars to withstand loads, together with a core of extruded polystyrene (XPS) thermal insulation.

The connectors are available in different sizes and load capacities to accommodate the applied loads. Each variant maintains the same basic design: an insulating block crossed by metal plates and connecting steel reinforcing bars.

The document evaluates the mechanical resistance, thermal performance of the assembly, and reaction to fire. The assessment has been carried out in accordance with EAD 050001-00-0301 Load-bearing thermal insulation elements which form a thermal break between balconies and internal floors.

Geobalcony is suitable for both new construction projects and refurbishment works where balconies, cantilevers, walkways, or structural extensions need to be connected while maintaining effective thermal bridge control.
