Urban innovation continues to gain prominence in Barcelona. In this context, BIT Habitat, the entity represented on the Institutional Committee of the Barcelona ConTech Hub, begins a new stage under the Barcelona Innova brand, the new identity promoted by Barcelona City Council to strengthen its role as a municipal instrument of innovation and connection with the city’s technological ecosystem.

This transformation seeks to promote collaboration between the public administration, companies, research centers, universities, entrepreneurs, and other innovative agents in the Barcelona ecosystem.

A key player within the Institutional Committee of the Barcelona ConTech Hub

The Institutional Committee of the Barcelona ConTech Hub, of which Barcelona Innova is a member, is a space for collaboration that was born precisely with the aim of bringing technological innovation and entrepreneurship closer to the public sector and promoting greater coordination between administrations in the fields of UrbanTech and Construction Tech.

Currently, it brings together representatives of BIMSA, Barcelona Innova (formerly BIT Habitat), the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), the General Directorate of Roads of the Generalitat de Catalunya, INCASÒL, ACCIÓ, Infraestructures.cat, the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia, BStartup Banc Sabadell and the ITeC Foundation.

Urban innovation as a driver of transformation

The new stage of Barcelona Innova focuses its strategy on urban innovation to promote solutions to the city’s main challenges, such as housing, sustainability, climate adaptation and the improvement of public services.

In this sense, the approval of the new Experimentation Spaces Ordinance stands out this year, which allows the city to become a laboratory to test new solutions with high impact.

Barcelona Innova consolidates the commitment of the Barcelona ConTech Hub Institutional Committee to coordinate efforts and reinforces the commitment of the Catalan public ecosystem to innovation.
