Blockchain makes its way to ConTech: new aid for Madrid SMEs and startups

The Community of Madrid has launched a new line of aid aimed at SMEs and startups , with special interest in those in the ConTech field, with the aim of promoting the incorporation of blockchain technology into their processes and solutions.

This call, endowed with 2 million euros, will be open until April 30 and is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU.

The grants will cover 100% of eligible expenses, with a maximum limit of 100,000 euros per company, and are aimed at promoting innovative projects that use blockchain as a lever for modernization, as long as they are not duplicates of others already presented by different applicants.

In the construction sector, blockchain technology can represent a radical change in key aspects such as the traceability of materials, the secure exchange of data between construction agents, the digital certification of processes or licenses, or the optimization of the supply chain.

  • Traceability: For example, construction companies can apply blockchain to track materials from the supplier to the construction site, guaranteeing the authenticity, sustainability and regulatory compliance of each element.
  • Secure exchange of information: In projects with multiple agents (architects, developers, engineers, construction companies), the use of a blockchain network allows critical documentation to be shared securely, reducing misunderstandings, delays and legal risks.
  • Verifiable certifications: From blueprints to licenses or technical manuals, everything can be recorded immutably, offering a single source of truth in the face of audits or potential contractual conflicts.
  • Operational optimization: Construction management or materials logistics companies can use this technology to improve time control, shipments and receptions, automating processes through smart contracts.

This aid package represents a unique opportunity for the ConTech sector to accelerate its digitalization through technology that guarantees transparency, security and efficiency.
