EVOCONS, in collaboration with Prearsa, promotes innovation with the first tender for 3D printed street furniture in Spain

The Paseo del Lighthouse in Arinaga, in the municipality of Agüimes (Canary Islands), debuts the first 3D printed street furniture in Spain, a fact that marks a before and after in the conception of public spaces. The project, promoted by the City Council of Agüimes, has had the participation of EVOCONS, responsible for design and manufacturing, and Prearsa, a Canarian company specialized in prefabricated products that has incorporated Evoconstructor® technology to make the leap towards additive manufacturing.
This action demonstrates how 3D printing applied to urban design opens up new possibilities to create more efficient, resistant environments adapted to the conditions of the territory.
A project that transforms public space
The installation is part of the tender for the project “Adaptation and improvement of the Paseo del Lighthouse of Arinaga”, which includes the widening of pavements, the elimination of architectural barriers, new parking areas, the renovation of infrastructures and street furniture. Among these improvements, the project specifications contemplated that street furniture be manufactured using 3D printing, with the aim of promoting 3D technology as it is considered more sustainable, faster and more efficient.
Collaborative design and advanced technology
The furniture includes benches and planters made of concrete using 3D printing. This technique allows you to create custom parts with great precision and provides unique advantages:
- Flexibility in design: ergonomic shapes adapted to the environment and with a personalized design that acts as windbreaks, improving the experience in Arinaga, an area exposed to strong continuous winds.
- Speed and efficiency: optimized production thanks to digital process control.
- Durability: resistance to salinity and climatic conditions of the coastal environment.
The planters were designed with specific measures for the planned vegetation, incorporating a larger soil base to ensure the correct development of the species; and the benches have a design that redirects the direction of the wind to ensure a pleasant space for citizens. The designs were carried out collaboratively between the Municipal Technical Office of the Agüimes City Council and the EVOCONS design team, led by the architect Ainhoa Amaro García, integrating functionality, aesthetics and adaptation to the environment.
Evoconstructor®: a new way of building
Rather than reducing dependence on the outside, this project is conceived as a way to promote local construction thanks to systems such as Evoconstructor®, which allow working with raw materials from the area, shortening deadlines and offering total flexibility without the need for moulds. A new way of executing cities and urban environments is proposed, not only in terms of building, but also in the adaptation of public spaces: street furniture, canopies, singular spaces, shadow structures, customised modules, structural bases, etc.
In addition, additive manufacturing avoids the need for large productions for the process to be profitable, which reinforces sustainability. Everything is manufactured by digitally optimising consumption, execution times and logistics systems, reducing the carbon footprint and optimising resources.
A Step Into the Future
The inauguration of the furniture on December 1, 2025 has been received with enthusiasm by neighbors and visitors, who value modern aesthetics and commitment to innovation. This project places Agüimes as a national benchmark in the application of advanced technologies and consolidates EVOCONS and Prearsa as key players in the transformation of the sector.
From the Barcelona ConTech Hub we give our most sincere congratulations to EVOCONS, a member of the Hub, for this new achievement.
