Saint-Gobain promotes sustainability and young talent in the 20th edition of the Architecture Student Contest

Our Global Partner Saint-Gobain has celebrated the state phase of the 20th edition of the Architecture Student Contest, an international competition that promotes innovation and sustainability among architecture, design and building engineering students.

The event took place at the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), where 12 finalist teams presented their proposals to a jury of industry experts. The challenge for this edition was to revitalize the French region of Nord-Isère by renovating an old school building in Chimilin and building a new residence for students and teachers in Villefontaine, near Les Grands Ateliers.

The projects were assessed taking into account criteria of architectural excellence and sustainable construction, such as passive design, energy efficiency, circularity of resources and user well-being.

National phase winners

  • 1st prize (€1,500): Miguel Herrero, Iker Díaz and Marcos Hernández, from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Valladolid, with the Macallan project.

  • 2nd prize (€1,000): Paula Poy and Cristina Viñas, from the Escola Técnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Vallès (ETSAV), with Core Voids.

  • 3rd prize (€750): Bernat Bosom, Marc Puigdemasa and Pol Sánchez, also from ETSAV, with Double Skin.

The winning team will represent Spain in the international phase of the competition, which will take place from June 16 to 18 in Lyon (France), and will bring together students and teachers from more than 40 countries.

From the Barcelona ConTech Hub, we congratulate Saint-Gobain for its commitment to training new generations and its determined commitment to a more sustainable, efficient architecture aligned with the challenges of the future.
