The technological innovation ecosystem in the construction sector is taking a step forward. The “PropTech Trends Spain 2025” report, prepared by PwC, TheFringe/LABS and the Association of Real Estate Agents of Catalonia (API), recognizes ConTech for the first time as a distinct category of PropTech, highlighting its growth and importance within the transformation of the real estate and construction sector.

The study identifies a total of 700 PropTech companies active in Spain and, according to data provided by the Barcelona ConTech Hub, another 170 companies classified as ConTech, an unprecedented number in the country. This distinction represents a turning point in the way the technological ecosystem linked to real estate and construction is analyzed and understood.

The choice of the Barcelona ConTech Hub as the official source for mapping the ConTech sector in Spain consolidates the Hub’s role as a reference agent in promoting innovation applied to construction. Since its foundation, the Hub has been actively working to identify, connect and make visible ConTech startups, contributing to structuring an ecosystem in clear expansion.

Spain is currently positioned as the third European country with the most technology companies in the real estate sector , behind only the United Kingdom and Germany. In this context, the growth of ConTech takes on special relevance given the current challenges of the sector, such as access to housing, the aging population or the need for more efficient, sustainable and digitalized processes in urban development.

The publication of this report not only provides an updated radiograph of the PropTech and ConTech ecosystem in Spain, but also validates the growing strategic role of technology applied to construction as a driver of transformation in the sector.
