The transformation of the construction sector requires the involvement of all the agents in the ecosystem, and especially public administrations. With this objective, the Barcelona ConTech Hub, promoted by the ITeC Foundation, has launched its new Institutional Committee, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration between the public sector and the innovative construction ecosystem.

The first meeting of the Committee was held at BStartup Banco Sabadell’s facilities in Barcelona and was attended by representatives of various institutions and public bodies linked to the fields of infrastructure, housing, innovation, and economic development.

This new workspace was created with the aim of facilitating the incorporation of technological innovation into public projects, promoting new innovative projects linked to construction, favoring coordination between administrations, and acting as a point of connection between public and private initiatives that promote the transformation of the sector.

Among its priorities is also the dissemination of new trends and technologies that are redefining construction on an international scale, such as digitalization, industrialization, artificial intelligence, robotization, and new sustainable materials.

The session brought together representatives of BIMSA, Barcelona City Council – BIT Habitat, Barcelona Provincial Council, Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), Generalitat de Catalunya, INCASÒL, ACCIÓ, Infraestructures de Catalunya, Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia, BStartup Banco Sabadell, and ITeC Foundation, among others, laying the foundations for a stable framework of collaboration to promote innovation in the sector.

With this initiative, the Barcelona ConTech Hub reinforces its role as a meeting point for administrations, companies, startups, technology centers, and professionals, with the aim of helping to position Catalonia as one of the benchmark territories in ConTech innovation in Europe.

The creation of this Institutional Committee represents a new step in connecting knowledge, technology, and public policies, generating the necessary conditions for innovative solutions to reach the market faster and have a real impact on the way of designing, building, and managing the infrastructures of the future.
