On May 20, the founding meeting of the International ConTech Network took place, a new international organization that was created with the aim of connecting the main technological innovation ecosystems of startups in construction on a global scale. This network, promoted by associations and reference hubs from different countries, has the mission of fostering international collaboration, facilitating technology transfer and contributing to the global scaling of startups in the sector.

The Barcelona ConTech Hub has actively participated as a member of the driving group that has made this initiative possible, and has been designated as the representative of Spain among the eleven founding countries. Along with Spain, this first international alliance includes Finland, Norway, Germany, France, Estonia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Mexico and Peru.

Furthermore, the network has already attracted significant interest: ten more countries have formally requested its incorporation, reinforcing ConTech’s emerging role as a key driver of transformation for the construction sector worldwide.

The director of the ConTech Hub, Paco Gómez Escofet, has been appointed as one of the four members of the entity’s executive committee.

The creation of the International ConTech Network is a response to the remarkable growth that the international ConTech ecosystem is experiencing, and to the need to generate synergies between the different national initiatives. Among its main objectives are:

• Give international visibility to ConTech startups, facilitating their presence in the construction sector globally as well as promoting the adoption of new technologies.
• Accelerate scaling processes, connecting entrepreneurs with opportunities, investors and corporations between different countries.
• Promote technology transfer, favoring the circulation of knowledge, solutions and good practices between regions.

At the Barcelona ConTech Hub, we value this alliance as a key strategic step to strengthen the international projection of the Spanish ecosystem and multiply the development and growth opportunities for our startups. Participating in this global network will allow us to continue positioning Barcelona as an international benchmark in technological innovation applied to construction.
