The European Commission has taken an important step to strengthen the European ecosystem of innovative companies with the creation of the Scaleup Europe Fund, a multi-million dollar fund aimed at supporting the most promising startups and scaleups in strategic technology sectors. Among the private investors participating are Mouro Capital and CriteriaCaixa.

This initiative is part of the EU Strategy for Startups and Scale-ups, with the aim of consolidating a competitive and dynamic European ecosystem, making it easier for companies with greater technological potential to grow and compete globally. According to the Commission, one of the main challenges for European companies has been limited access to capital growth in advanced stages, making it difficult for leading startups to consolidate themselves and lead international markets.

The Scaleup Europe Fund will focus on late-stage investments and growth capital in a wide range of strategic technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous systems, renewable energy, biotechnology and, especially, innovations applied to the construction sector and ConTech, key areas for the transformation of infrastructure and smart cities in Europe.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stresses that “Europe has the talent and ideas to build world-leading technology companies. With the Scaleup Europe Fund we want to ensure that the best European startups can grow and thrive at home, generating quality jobs and leading global innovation” .

The fund will operate as a private investment vehicle, professionally managed and co-financed by European investors, with the aim of starting the first investments in spring 2026. A public call will be published in the coming months to select the management company that will lead the execution of the fund.

For the European ConTech ecosystem, the Scaleup Europe Fund represents a key opportunity to access capital growth that can accelerate the development of technological solutions in construction, process digitalization and sustainability, reinforcing Europe’s leadership in innovation applied to construction and infrastructure.
