The European Commission launches an innovation platform to boost startups and accelerate the arrival of new solutions on the market

The European Commission reinforces its commitment to innovation and technological development with the launch of a new Innovation Platform, conceived as a single point of access to funding, services and opportunities for the European entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Presented at the European Innovation Summit held in Brussels, the initiative aims to make it easier for startups, innovative companies, researchers and entrepreneurs to access key resources in a more agile way to accelerate the development and commercialization of their solutions.

A digital hub to connect Europe’s innovative ecosystem

Developed by the Directorate General for Research and Innovation, the platform was born as a centralized digital environment that brings together in a single space resources that until now were dispersed among different programs, services and community organizations.

The aim is to improve the coordination of the ecosystem and facilitate access to support instruments, creating a more connected and accessible environment to drive the growth of new companies in Europe.

Its main features include an intelligent recommendation engine, capable of adapting opportunities to the specific needs of each user. The system takes into account factors such as the sector of activity, geographical location or the degree of maturity of the project to suggest funding, relevant events and services.

Facilitating access to finance and accelerating innovation

The platform is part of the European Strategy for Startups and Scaleups, an initiative that seeks to simplify and coordinate the different innovation support instruments existing in the European Union.

In this sense, the proposal aims to respond to one of the main challenges of the European ecosystem: the difficulty of transferring research and development projects to the market. With this new access point, the European Commission wants to speed up this process and strengthen the continent’s technological competitiveness .

In a first phase, the platform will be aimed at projects that have already received European funding and that seek to advance in their commercialization, job creation and scale-up phases. However, access to startups, investors and large corporations is expected to be progressively expanded.

One more step towards a more competitive, innovative ecosystem

With the launch of this tool, Brussels is taking a new step towards consolidating a more integrated innovation ecosystem, facilitating the connection between the different agents, and promoting the transfer of knowledge to the market.

The Innovation Platform is thus positioned as a key digital infrastructure to accelerate the growth of innovative companies in Europe and strengthen their ability to compete on a global scale, contributing to more technological solutions reaching the market faster and more efficiently.
