New web section of Tools for structural rehabilitation
In the Tools for structural rehabilitation section of the ITeC website, we make available to interested technicians and organizations some resources related to the structural rehabilitation of buildings. This initiative is a response to the expressions of interest received on tools that ITeC produced in the past and that were no longer accessible for various reasons, including the technological obsolescence of the medium on which they were distributed.
Among these tools is a database of authorisations for the use of unidirectional roofs from the period 1966 to 1976 which was published more than twenty-five years ago, but which is still valid in its content and can provide interesting information in structural rehabilitation studies in buildings of the period it covers. The database has been included in this section of the ITeC website so that it is available to everyone free of charge.
However, some calculation tools have been recovered from Microsoft Excel files that accompanied some of the volumes of the collection of books on structural rehabilitation published in the 90s, the content of which is still valid in many case studies. These books were already accessible on the ITeC website, but now they have become more visible, making them easier to locate and download.
The two calculation tools recovered in their original format are: (1) the stress check and indicators of the existing brick factory and (2) the simplified method of checking reinforced concrete pillars that serve as quenching for brick wall structure buildings.
Soon, an attempt will be made to facilitate the application that allowed the inspection of reinforced or prestressed concrete beams.
It is important, however, to inform users that what has been done is to make these tools available as they were originally, so no content update process has been carried out. We recommend reading the Notices that you will find at the bottom of the website.
We hope that this new section will be useful for the renovation sector.
