Kits in construction products
Unlike the Directive, the Regulation (UE) 305/2011 introduces the kit concept into its articles. According to the Regulation: “Kit means a construction product placed on the market by a single manufacturer as a set of at least two separate components that need to be put together to be incorporated in the construction works”.
At present, the main activity of kits is found in European Assessment Documents–EAD, in the field of products without a harmonised standard.
During this year, published EADs on kits will increase since there is an important number of EADs in progress, both new EADs or EADs resulting from ETA Guideline conversions. As a result, there will be an increase in kit use in the construction sector.
