Sustainable construction cycles

Cycle of sessions on sustainable construction
RDI cicles

  • The construction sector has developed by maximizing economic benefits and minimizing costs, often because of urban pressure and speculation.
  • These pressures have led to building with very low energy efficiency and with significant direct and indirect impacts on natural resources and human health.
  • The construction sector is one of the most resource-intensive sectors in the EU being responsible for 40% of waste generated, 40% of material consumption, 40% of energy consumption, and 1/3 of water consumption.

Objective

To improve the environment by providing information and knowledge to technicians in the sector to facilitate the drafting of sustainable construction projects, taking into account the solutions for the new sustainability requirements.

Sessions, briefings, and infographics are closely linked to promoting the reduction of emissions throughout the life cycle of buildings through energy saving, energy efficiency, and the generation of energy from renewable sources, as well as encouraging the reduction of waste production and promoting a culture of reuse, recycling, and responsible consumption.

The general aim of the project is to move towards a circular economy that, from the local level, innovates to make the life cycle of buildings more sustainable, taking into account the solutions for the new sustainability requirements, through the improvement of information and communication with professionals in the sector and favoring collaboration between the agents involved.
