Carbon offsets for construction projects

The emissions offsetting tool is a technological tool for people committed to sustainability who, voluntarily, wish to be able to calculate and offset the greenhouse gas emissions produced by their management of works in Barcelona.

Barcelona City Council has the TCQiGMA tool, a software tool for calculating the carbon emissions of its construction-related activities. ITeC proposes the creation of an emissions compensation tool for Barcelona City Council projects.

Objective

Develop a free IT gateway between the TCQiGMA and Climatetrade, a blockchain platform where businesses and consumers can easily offset their carbon footprint, invest in sustainable financial products, and participate in disruptive technologies and projects that seek to mitigate the effects of climate change.

From the gateway within the TCQGMA that is developed in this project, the carbon offsetting of all new and refurbishment works in the city of Barcelona is facilitated.
