Training course on nZEB for public administrations

Training course on nZEB for public administrations

Compliance with the Spanish nZEB near-zero consumption standards in new buildings and major renovations is no longer voluntary since it is becoming progressively mandatory. The buildings belonging to or occupied by public administrations are expected to be the first ones in the process, which means that the personnel in charge of prescribing, tendering and managing these projects should be familiar with nZEB criteria. ITeC is carrying out training courses specifically aimed at this profile of public employees.

Regulatory framework of fasteners and supporting systems for electrical wiring

Regulatory framework of fasteners and supporting systems for electrical wiring

Fixing products for electrical wiring are treated as mere ancillary products by the current building codes. ITeC is proposing a set of technical specifications for these fasteners and supports that reflects their true contribution to the essential requirements (mechanical resistance, safety, fire performance, etc) taking references from both the Spanish and European regulations and also from good practices.

Database of prices, specifications and environmental parameters for work in natural environments

Database of prices, specifications and environmental parameters for work in natural environments

A public entity is contracting works to be carried out within a the natural areas under its responsibility, such as forest maintenance, equipment maintenance, fire prevention or restoration of degraded spots. The construction databases used for budgeting and tendering public works do not cover in sufficient detail these types of works in natural environments, so ITeC has been entrusted with the mission of creating a specialized database that fills these gaps.

PLURAL project: energy renovation with industrialized 'plug & play' façade components

PLURAL project: energy renovation with industrialized 'plug & play' façade components

The renovation kits developed by PLURAL integrate different renewable energy technologies, so they become part of the building at the same time as the façade is renewed. A complementary tool will facilitate decision-making for project designers, directing them to the kits most suitable for the building, the climate and the occupants. It will also reduce manufacturing costs and reduce delivery times.

Application of the Preventive Maintenance Methodology to a group of public-owned apartment buildings

Application of the Preventive Maintenance Methodology to a group of public-owned apartment buildings

It begins with the inspection of a cluster of buildings containing about 100 dwellings and a first advance of results that would allow to take protective measures for occupants and bystanders in the case serious damages are detected. The data collected will be used to assess the general condition of the whole structure and make repair proposals on a case-by-case basis, which the management will subsequently entrust to the teams of its choice. The actual repairs will be followed up and the final state of the operation will be documented.

Database for maintenance work in educational buildings

Database for maintenance work in educational buildings

A public entity that manages maintenance and upgrade works in a series of schools uses its own price databases for budgeting, tendering and tracking the projects under its jurisdiction. These databases had adequate contents (they are specialized in the most frequent types of works in educational buildings) but they could benefit from some improvements to make them more operational: merging them into a single database, indexing it properly and filling some gaps, while at the same time adopting the methodology of ITeC’s own databases.

Requirements for ventilation dampers for tunnels

Requirements for ventilation dampers for tunnels

When a tunnel exceeds a given length, it is compulsory to install mechanical ventilation systems that should remain operative in the event of fire in order to remove smoke and hot gases. Regulations are somewhat ambiguous in relation to the type of requirements and specific conditions that may be requested from ventilation systems during a fire, considering that it is not necessary to treat them like fire doors in building compartmentalization. This report aims to identify the criteria to be followed for a harmonised assessment of these products and for their certification.

Verification of the budget drafted by a contractor using ITeC’s databases as a benchmark

Verification of the budget drafted by a contractor using ITeC’s databases as a benchmark

A building company has won a public contract for a municipal project and wants to certify that its economic proposal follows the criteria that ITeC recommends for budgeting projects with a cost and technical complexity comparable to those of the case in question. Near 100 items that appear in the budget have been identified as equivalent to items that can be found on ITeC databases.

Environmental measures in an urban reform project

Environmental measures in an urban reform project

Before the tender of a large-scale urban reform operation (> 150 MEUR), the developer wants to ensure that it is projected and executed in accordance with sustainability standards that must be defined in advance. To this end, ITeC has been entrusted with drafting a environmental brief for the contractor where it specifies a verifiable method for calculating of CO2, energy and waste impact, and for the correct management of waste.

Assessment of post-tensioning systems for concrete structures

Assessment of post-tensioning systems for concrete structures

The evaluation of the post-tensioning systems as per ETAG 013 includes not just the elements to place under tension (cables, bars or tendons) but the whole set of components that are needed on site. This "kit" approach means that the analysis must include connectors and couplings, ducts, trumpets and filling materials.
