The company AF SYSTEMS SRL has obtained the ETA 21/0580 for its fire penetration seal product AF BRICK.

AF BRICK is an intumescent block made of a bi-component thermo expansive foam used to reinstate the resistance to fire performance of wall and floor constructions where they are penetrated by services (combustible pipes, multilayer composite pipes, cables and cables trays, insulated and non-insulated metal pipes).

With the use of AF BRICK, services can be sealed to achieve a fire resistance performance of up to EI 120, EI 180 or EI 240, depending on the configuration of the constructive element, the dimensions of the installation passage, etc., as specified for each case in ETA 21/0580.

AF BRICK is designed for a working life of 25 years at the environmental semi-exposed use conditions (category of use Type Y1 according to EAD 350454-00-1104): temperatures below 0 ºC, with exposure to UV rays but not to rain.

The correct sealing of services passing through construction elements is a fundamental aspect to guarantee the correct fire compartmentation of the building, an aspect that does not always receive sufficient attention, both at the level of specification of the solution and at the level of its subsequent installation, because these sealing products are often hidden by finishing elements.

In the market there are multiple products for fire sealing that have been evaluated and verified according to the European methodology specified in EAD 350454-00-1104.
