Assessment of fire-resistant panels for air conditioning ducts

Assessment of fire-resistant panels for air conditioning ducts

A manufacturer of panels with fireproof properties intends to use them to assemble HVAC and smoke conduction ducts, but the composition of these products places them outside the scope of application of the European harmonized standards. ITeC has checked whether the EAD Guide 350142 covers this type of panels and has assisted the manufacturer in the preparation of the Technical Dossier and the Control Plan, and during the subsequent laboratory tests. The final step has been the issuance of a European Technical Assessment.

Evaluation of HVAC ducts built with mineral wool boards

Evaluation of HVAC ducts built with mineral wool boards

The EN standards that regulate mineral wool do not cover the case of HVAC ducts built with this kind of boards, so they can not be CE-marked. An EAD document has been developed, enabling the possibility for this type of ducts to get a CE mark if they are backed by an ETA that substantiates their satisfactory thermal performance, safety in case of fire, acoustic behaviour and durability, among others.

Documentary, budgetary and legal compliance check of the renovation of the HVAC system in a health facility

Documentary, budgetary and legal compliance check of the renovation of the HVAC system in a health facility

Before tendering the renovation of the air conditioning system of a healthcare building, a preliminary examination of the executive project has been carried out. It contemplates the replacement of the current equipment with variable refrigerant volume units featuring heat recovery, with the additional difficulty of keeping the existing ventilation and electricity systems. The project assessment has identified some conflicts derived from the complexity of the operation, in which 8 heat pumps and 77 indoor units will be installed.

Assessment of air renewal mechanical systems

Assessment of air renewal mechanical systems

Assessment of a mechanical ventilation system for non-residential buildings in relation to the indoor air quality and thermal efficiency criteria of the Spanish CTE building code and RITE regulations for HVAC. These systems perform a continuous measurement of the internal CO2 level and self-regulate the airflow rate towards the room accordingly. It includes a method to calculate the number and size of the equipment that guarantees air renewal in each space with the least possible energy loss.

Identification of the causes of corrosion in the pipes of a heating system

Identification of the causes of corrosion in the pipes of a heating system

The heating system in a public building of recent construction shows an abnormally advanced phenomenon of corrosion in its pipe network, and different factors are being considered as a cause: inadequate choice of pipe, excess air in the pipes from an inefficient deaeration, and biological corrosion by bacteria.

Identification and analysis of the European assessment requirements applicable to cold rooms

Identification and analysis of the European assessment requirements applicable to cold rooms

Characterization of the components used for assembling modular construction cold rooms (sandwich panels, substructures, doors and ancillaries for assembly and sealing) with respect to the requirements of thermal insulation, air permeability, fire safety, safety in use and hygiene. It has also addressed the issues of maintenance, repair and cleaning.

Regulatory framework for plastic chimney systems

Regulatory framework for plastic chimney systems

At the time of writing this report, the EN 14471 standard was still in a preliminary phase and the Spanish code for installations was awaiting a new revision. As a result, chimneys and smoke ducts made with plastic materials were left in a situation of legal ambiguity. In these circumstances, the manufacturer was informed of which were the options available to present technical evidence of the proper functioning of his systems, mainly in the field of voluntary certification.
