Automated Compliance Checks for Construction, Renovation or Demolition Works
CONTEXT
- Current building permitting and compliance processes vary between countries complicating the development of replicable digital solutions for different markets.
- Existing software tools, meeting only a part of the needs related to building permitting and compliance, lack integration and alignment with wider compliance processes and data providers/consumers.
- There is a lack of data to drive digital permitting and checking.
CHALLENGE
- Create cost-effective and user-friendly solutions to manage and analyse data created in the sector that they can support decision making for designing and constructing a sustainable built environment.
- Automate the checking process of building or infrastructure, complying with the codes, standards and requirements, especially related to the environment, to reduce construction costs, improve built quality, and increase energy efficiency and reduce negative environmental effects of buildings and infrastructure.
PROPOSAL
- Develop open APIs allowing local authorities to choose their digital services without a lock-in.
- Automate the checking of environmental regulations (CO2 emissions, LCA and circular economy) by developing machine-readable rules, thus steering the digital and green transition, and involving relevant stakeholders through co-creation.
- Create information guidelines for structured data models to increase the value of buildings and reduce their operating costs.
- Provide the open ACCORD framework based on microservices allowing businesses to connect and develop solutions resulting in a scalable, durable and flexible permitting ecosystem.
ITeC ROLE
- ITeC as an expert in standards, processes and digital models, sustainable construction and databases will provide BIM standards, methodologies and tools (BIM libraries and BIM cloud software) to check urban compliance.
