CONTEXT

  • Despite high necessity for renovations, progress falls below expectations, with the weighted annual energy renovation rate as low as 1%.
  • Only 0.2% of the building renovations reduce energy consumption in EU.
  • The renovation is held back by barriers at different points throughout the value chain – from the initial decision to renovate, to financing and project completion

CHALLENGE

  • Take advance of technological developments and the EU’s new growth strategy that places energy efficiency and renewability at the forefront of sustainable development to set off the Renovation Wave, offering a great opportunity to make renovation a win-win for climate neutrality and equitable economic recovery.

PROPOSAL

  • Unlock the EU renovation wave through cutting-edge standardized, through the InCUBE Suite, that integrates digital tools across all 4 pillars of innovation: 1) Industrialization: Off-site manufactured solutions including the use of robots 2) Novel self-RES power producing and storage technologies, products and materials 3) Digitalization: Dynamic Digital Twins of both products and buildings,merging innovative manufacturing processes with BIM, and; 4) New market entrants, organized under novel business models, to allow for increased levels of collaboration and productivity.

ITeC ROLE

  • Study and definition of technical and non-technical background (regulation, stakeholder requirements, market needs).
  • Lead standardization activities, quality and risk management.
