CONTEXT

  • Post Consumer Tyres are an important waste stream generated every year in Europe and the world.
  • The percentage level of tyres collected under European tyre management
    schemes, is low compared to other waste streams.
  • Recycled Tire Materials are used in many different products and applications, from roads and road furniture to sport surfaces, from building materials to infrastructure – and many others.

CHALLENGE

  • Raise awareness of circular economy opportunities for RTM (Recycled Tire Materials) products and applications.
  • Ensuring an effective market for RTMs to enable an expansion of recycling.

PROPOSAL

  • Make available models and experiences about Recycled Tire Materials use, that may be adopted to improve the infrastructure for transport (roads and rails), Concrete and Building (steel fibersreinforced concrete for industrial flooring and roads, rubber sheets and layers for noise reduction,recycled fibers textile panels for insulation), Urban and Street Furniture, Sports and Leisure products and applications (sport facilities, rubber surfaces for multisport and leisure activities, etc.).
  • Organizer awareness-raising activities to interact between Municipal governments, industrial sectors, professional organisations, training bodies.

ITeC ROLE

  • Data & Technological support Construction-Technical Assessment and Certification.
  • Market Analysis, strategies and actions to provide a guideline for the GPPs (Green Public Procurement) related to RTM applications.
